In 2003, the North East Area Group of DEMU met for the first time. As the group became friends, they entered a DEMU competition to create a working model railway in a space of 750 square inches. The model was completed in time for DEMU Showcase 2005, and was subsequently exhibited at Blyth, Gosforth and EXPO EM 2006. The layout was featured in Rail Express magazine in May 2006, but was proving difficult to store, maintain and operate.
The concept was good, and a decision was made to create RTS 2, using the stock from RTS 1.
The group had learnt much from the building of RTS 1 and our intention with this website is to chronicle the building of RTS 2 |
